BANGKOK, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed Friday that the National Security Council has authorized Defense Minister Natthapon Nakpanich to attend the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on Saturday.
Speaking after chairing the council meeting, Anutin expressed hope that a joint statement could be signed to reaffirm the mutual commitment to non-aggression and stability.
"The essence is that we must keep our promises not to threaten, invade, or provoke each other," he told reporters, noting that reducing security threats is a priority for both nations.
Meanwhile, military delegates from Thailand and Cambodia reconvened on Friday for the third day of negotiations on the resumption and verification of the ceasefire along their disputed border.
According to a statement released by Thailand's 1st Army Area, three Thai soldiers were dead on Friday during clashes along the border in Sa Kaeo Province. ■
