UNITED NATIONS, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The more Israeli forces hit targets in southern Lebanon, the greater the restraint on emergency response capacity and access for relief delivery, UN humanitarians said Friday.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that in Nabatieh governorate, strikes on Thursday reportedly impacted a key road in Marjayoun district, which is critical for emergency medical evacuation, aid workers movement and people's access to essential goods and services.

Also on Thursday, local sources reported that separate airstrikes killed at least eight people in the municipality of Maarakah in South governorate. Three more people were killed, and around 37 others were injured in the Al Buss Palestinian refugee camp.

Displacement orders repeatedly force families to leave their homes, only to return as security conditions shift back and forth. Shelters in Tyre city are reportedly at capacity, and displaced families are increasingly moving north, abandoning their homes.

"Despite such constraints, the UN and its humanitarian partners continue to provide life-saving assistance across the country," OCHA said, adding that since March 2, the World Food Programme and its partners have distributed more than 11 million hot and cold meals to conflict-affected people, while the UN Refugee Agency and shelter partners have provided more than 170,000 blankets and 130,000 mattresses to displaced families.

Imran Riza, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Lebanon, said Friday that he is deeply alarmed by the intensification of hostilities and the impact of displacement orders affecting communities across the country. He noted reports that airstrikes harmed civilians as they attempted to flee areas under displacement orders.

Citing official Lebanese figures, OCHA said at least 3,355 people have been killed and 10,095 others injured since the escalation on March 2 following the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.
